From Bondage to Spiritual Faith

All the great nations of the past, which now sleep in dusty oblivion, followed the same pattern: From bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to selfishness; from selfishness to complacency; from complacency to apathy; from apathy to dependence back to bondage. Where in this pattern is our beloved America today?

We must acknowledge that all the corrosive ills and sin diseases which brought the downfall of the nations of antiquity are mightily existent in America today. It is not too late, however, for a change if even an appreciable number of us would turn penitently to God and acknowledge and forsake our sins: “Turn ye again now every one from his evil way…and dwell in the land that the Lord hath given unto you and to your father for ever and ever” (Jeremiah 25:5).

I would say as a nation that we are well past being apathetic and smack dab in the mist of bondage. We as a nation are bond mentally, emotionally, financially, and spiritually. We seem to have a self destruct wish that has only gotten stronger over time. With the age of prosperity that has increased by generation, we have lost site of what true prosperity is and are allowing events to take place that seemingly appear to ensure the destruction of our nation as well as our way of life. The saving grace is that it all works in His favor and to those that love HIm we will prevail. It is sad that we are unable to enjoy what we are given without overindulgence. But I guess if it were not so we would not need him.
