The Gerard Health Foundation wants to recognize pro-life accomplishments. The award is called Life Prizes and is headed by Cathy Ruse, who predicts there will be a lot of hopefuls. “The award will be $600,000 divided by up to six recipients,” she explains. Ruse believes it is time for the recognition considering the nature of people involved in the pro-life movement.

“We are notorious for our sacrificial work, for not getting paid a lot or anything and not usually getting recognized often, so we hope this will be a beautiful initiative that will reward those who are doing outstanding and sacrificial work and also be an inspiration to others,” she adds.

Nomination packages have already been sent to over 100 leaders of pro-life organizations and the winners will be chosen by a selection committee. Large and small groups are eligible, as well as youth pro-life groups. The awards will be handed out in January around the anniversary of Roe vs. Wade – the Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion.
